Health Centre
The Health Centre is a vital part of our school. It is an excellent modern facility where there is always a resident qualified Duty Nurse in charge. The school Medical Officer visits the school regularly and all boarders must be registered with her under the National Health Service. Private medical treatment can, however, be arranged at parents’ expense if they so request, and there is a Nuffeld Hospital in the town. Membership of the AXA PPP School Scheme to provide private medical cover at low cost can be arranged and is strongly recommended for those pupils who intend to play sport at a high level.
Qualified Staff
At King's College, we provide nursing care to pupils and first aid care to all members of the school community, including visitors. The centre is staffed by qualified nurses 24 hours a day during term time. We also have a health centre assistant who works from 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, part of her role being to take pupils to medical appointments outside school. We also have a house keeper who works from 8am to 1pm Monday to Friday.
The King's College Prep School Medical Centre is staffed by full-time qualified nurses and is open for business between 8.15am and 4.15pm. However, qualified cover is always available outside of these formal opening hours from our boarding staff. We are proud of our staff and facilities - our pupils, be they boarders or day, benefit from the availability of well-qualified and motivated staff, as well as well-equipped sick-bays and surgery.
