Abby H continues to make her mark on the Race Walk scene after COVID-19 pandemic break. Sports Scholar Abby was selected to represent England at the SIAB International Schools competition in Derby over the 3k Race Walk after winning the U17 English Schools Championships in the previous weekend.
Abby who represented England in February 2020 in the Isle of Man and won that event, has battled back to fitness after illness throughout the winter to reach her target of earning the English Schools Vest at the SIAB International Schools meet. Abby went in ranked 4th into the International race but after the start, she established herself in the third place and walked to bronze through to a new personal best of 15mins 25s which is an improvement of 32secs since August. This now ranked her 1st Under 17 in England and 7th of any age women in the UK.
Abby is part of the England Race Walk Programme and recently attended the England Athletics Youth Talent Pathway profiling day and is hopeful of acceptance. She is also fortunate to have access to GB Olympic Race-walker Tom Bosworth who has volunteered to mentor her progress in the sport.
Abby recently received an academic scholarship to along with her sports scholarship after gaining two A*, six 9’s and two 8’s, and is fully involved in school life by taking part in legal and biology societies, along with swimming, hockey, cross country and athletics.
