Chindit Camp 2024 Celebrates 70 Years of Adventure and Achievement

Chindit Camp 2024 at Clogg’s Farm on Exmoor commemorated its 70th anniversary, marking 57 years at its current location with an exhilarating display of teamwork and skill. Over a week, two waves of 44 Third Form pupils immersed themselves in challenging team-based activities, vying to dominate the points table and claim the coveted 'throne of Exmoor'.

A Week of Skill and Strategy

Fieldcraft, map-reading, and concealment skills were prominently featured as students decoded enemy signals, evaded NCOs, and strategised their way to the summit of Dane’s Mump. In Wave 1, Freddie T’s Blue Section surged ahead early, but Delilah N's Yellow Section clinched victory in the intense King of the Hill challenge. Wave 2 saw Edith M's Green Section lead from start to finish, with Harry P's Yellow Section closely trailing by one point.

International Collaboration

This year’s camp also marked a significant milestone with the inclusion of students from King’s Doha, highlighting successful collaboration between the international branches of King’s College. Faculty praised the Third Form year group for their exceptional teamwork and enthusiastic participation. Notable contributions came from students like Katie Sercombe, Leti De Beaujeu, Erin Turner, Ilse Espinos, Dasha Riesner, Lucy Stanley, Ellen Northover, Jaspar Bubb, Ru Pengelley, and Bryan Lo, who exemplified the camp’s spirit by supporting their peers and eagerly taking on camp duties.

Recognising Excellence

Special recognition was extended to the Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) for their invaluable support. Rudi Riesner and Ashton Rigby were highlighted for their outstanding dedication and effort across both waves of activities.

The culmination of Chindit Camp 2024 included the presentation of four prestigious awards. Sophie S and Edith M received accolades for their exemplary leadership as in-charge (i/c) of their respective waves, while Katie S and Ru P were honoured for their exceptional camp attitude and positive spirit. Chindit Camp 2024 stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of adventure and camaraderie fostered at King’s, exemplifying a legacy of excellence and achievement spanning seven decades.
