We are pleased to announce the addition of two coaches to our rugby programme. We are a forward-thinking and a powerhouse of sport in the West Country, and rugby forms a huge part of our sports offering, including a well-established girl's rugby team.
Forwards Coach Wayne Sprangle and Sports Performance Coach Adam Coles join a dynamic team of fully qualified and experienced coaches who run sessions aimed at developing individual skills and decision-making, through small-sided games as well as team preparation.
Wayne Sprangle is a seasoned rugby player and coach and is well known in the South West having been a professional player for several years with Bath, Launceston and Plymouth Albion. In recent years, he has been player-coach at Tiverton RFC and latterly Bridgwater & Albion RFC, as well as another stint last season at the age of 39 as a player for Plymouth Albion playing in National League One.
King's Head of Rugby, Ed Lewsey said: “Wayne is a big character in rugby in the South West, in formidable shape and will set high standards for our pupils to aspire to. He will be working across all age group teams at King’s, focusing on forward play in particular.”
Sports Performance Coach Adam Coles recently graduated with a degree in Sports Coaching Science from the University of Gloucestershire. He has experience working with children of primary school age through to 18-year-olds, coaching several sports but specialises in rugby.
Phil Lewis, King's Direct of Sport, commented: “A talented back himself, Adam will bring enthusiasm and energy into the role at King’s. We are delighted that both Adam and Wayne are joining the King’s community to work with pupils at King’s Hall School and King’s College.”
