King’s College Doha proudly celebrated the grand opening of its state-of-the-art Mesaimeer campus with an elegant and memorable ceremony.
The event commenced with a breakfast reception in the central atrium, showcasing student artwork and sustainability projects. Guests then moved to the 350-seat auditorium for the official ceremony, which featured performances by King’s pupils, including a scene from the recent production of "Matilda". The event also included speeches and a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by guided tours of the new campus.
The ceremony was hosted by Sheikh Mansoor Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of King’s College Board, and Mr. Mike Seaton, Principal of King’s College Doha. The event was attended by Mr. Justin Chippendale, Headmaster of King’s College Prep, Taunton, the UK Ambassador to Qatar, H.E. Neerav Patel, dignitaries, founding parents, and other distinguished guests.
Mr. Mike Seaton expressed his pride and excitement, stating, "Hosting our official opening alongside Sheikh Mansoor Jassim Al Thani is a privilege. The positive feedback from our guests highlights our vision to be the best British independent school in the Middle East. We are very proud of King’s Doha and our close relationship with King’s UK. Having Mr. Chippendale here made the day even more special. I also want to thank our committed and creative teachers and pupils for their fantastic performances."
Mr. Justin Chippendale, who recently visited in February, addressed the audience on behalf of King’s UK, expressing his support and collaboration with King’s Doha. He remarked, "Working with King’s Doha is incredibly rewarding. Since its opening in 2016, the school has continually excelled, welcoming pupils from around the world to experience an authentic King’s education. The opening of this magnificent new campus is a milestone to be celebrated and will bring countless new opportunities for all our pupils in Qatar."
The event also saw attendance from representatives of top universities and educational institutions in Qatar, as well as members of the local business community. The ceremony concluded with tours of the new campus, which boasts extensive indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including a 25m swimming pool, cricket nets, tennis courts, football pitches, and dance studios. Additionally, the campus features dedicated music and performing arts studios, design and art labs, and state-of-the-art classrooms with abundant natural light.
