Hosted at King’s College, Taunton, King’s College Prep organised a lively and enjoyable swimming gala, welcoming teams from Trull, North Town, Cheddon, and St George’s for a friendly afternoon dedicated to swimming.
The event showcased the inclusive and celebratory spirit of sport that King’s encourages, with pupils of all abilities coming together to dive in, make a splash, and cheer each other on.
The gala had an electric atmosphere, and events on the day ranged from individual races to relays, ensuring there was something for everyone.
It was a testament to our pupils’ all-around positive approach to sports participation. Some of our swimmers, with great enthusiasm, willingly joined other schools’ teams when they were short of team members for relays or lacked a swimmer for a particular stroke. Members of the King’s College Prep team integrated seamlessly, giving their best efforts as if they were swimming for their own team. Additionally, our pupils cheered arm in arm from the poolside for all swimmers with genuine enthusiasm, wanting everyone to succeed.
These are the types of pupils you will find at King’s, and we couldn’t be prouder. They embody our values of courage and encouragement. The galas success showcased collaboration and sportsmanship of everyone involved, including visiting schools, staff, swimmers, and supportive parents.
At King’s, we promote sports for all, as well as aspiring elite athletes. The joy of participation, teamwork, and personal growth is what pupils will take with them in later life. Our facilities, like the beautiful indoor pool, allows for year-round swimming, ensuring consistent practice and enjoyment regardless of the weather.
Swimmers at all levels benefit from our swimming programme at King’s. High-level competitors receive the support they need to succeed at county or regional galas, while those who enjoy swimming at a more relaxed pace are equally encouraged. The joy of sport lies in healthy participation within a supportive environment tailored to individual need, a principle central to our entire sports programme here at King’s College.
