Our girls' hockey tour to the Basque region has been a real adventure, with some great games played and the chance to sample some of the local culture.

After hours of arduous travel, our team finally arrived and set about discovering the delights of the old town of Bilbao and visited the Guggenheim Museum before heading to San Sebastián for their first hockey match.

They enjoyed a 2-0 win against Club Athletico San Sebastián boys' squad, with goals scored by Olivia T and Hettie C. After this victory, the team spent the day in San Sebastián, enjoying some downtown at the beach.

With training the following day, the girls then played a mixture of club sides in a triangular fixture, before preparing to travel over the border into France.

After stopping off in Saint Jean de Luz on route to Bordeaux, the team played a great fixture against club side, Sport Athlétique Mérignacais, against whom they clocked up an impressive victory with goals scored by Hettie C, Hannah C, Liv T, Katie R, Lucy D.

Before heading home, the team were able to explore the city and its markets, and also managed to catch an ice hockey match between the Bordeaux Boxers v Rouens Dragons.
