With cosy corners, messy play, an enticing range of toys and books, and our very own wild woods, our Pelican Nursery provides the perfect environment for your child to start exploring their world.
“Wonderful facilities and warm, enthusiastic staff who really care about your child.” - Nursery Parent
Care and Comfort
Located at King’s College Prep School, we offer a friendly, happy and welcoming setting for children aged two to four years. We are open from 8am until 6pm during term time and, with full and part time places, offer total flexibility to suit your family's needs. Our Woodland Adventures activity club also provides extra fun during the school holidays.
Our friendly nursery setting offers a stimulating environment (including two colourful rooms for three and four year olds, and a purpose built room just for two year olds), experienced Early Years staff, and safe outdoor play areas ensure that even our youngest children feel completely secure and at home.
Whether your child starts at age two or three, they will be assigned a key person who will work in partnership with you to ensure they feel happy and safe, and that all their needs are being met.
A Springboard for Learning
A wide variety of stimulating activities, boundless opportunities for discovery, and a child-centred approach mean that children flourish in our care and achieve important early milestones – whilst having lots of fun! Our aim is to encourage a lifelong love of learning – starting with the vital ingredients of curiosity and wonder - in each individual child, and support an easy transition into Pre-Prep Reception.
Fresh Air and Fun
We have direct access to a beautiful, rural 50-acre setting, which allows children to enjoy daily Forest School in a dedicated area of woodland, gaining confidence and cultivating natural curiosity as they make dens, create amazing concoctions in the mud kitchen, or hunt for mini-beasts among the trees – all under the watchful eyes of our highly skilled nursery staff.
“It is a joy to see our Nursery children using all their senses learning through play, growing at their own pace.” Claire Luckhurst, Head of Nursery and Pre-Prep
Room to Grow
As part of the wider King’s College Prep family, we are able to access extensive play, sport, music and drama facilities, and our Nursery children are an intrinsic part of our close-knit community.
When the time comes for your child to move up to reception, we will be delighted to give you a tour to enable you to see more of King’s College Prep and what we have to offer for the next stage of your child's development.
Children looking to make the move would normally do so in the September term following their fourth birthday. It can be a little daunting moving up to a new class, with new teachers and a new environment. We like to make this feel as easy as possible, by starting to introduce children to their new teachers and routine during the summer term, and holding a dedicated Welcome even
