King's Hall Libraries

King's Hall has two wonderful libraries, one in our main school building and the other close to our Pre-Prep classrooms. Our Chartered Librarian, Mrs Lowery, oversees both libraries and supports our pupils in their journey to becoming lifelong readers. Passionate about reading for pleasure, she holds regular Book Club gatherings, book breakfasts, author visits, reading fairs and competitions, as well as overseeing a Twitter feed dedicated to all things library related.

Love Your Library

Reading is the key to learning, and at King’s Hall the library is at the heart of the school. It is a vibrant and engaging place where pupils are encouraged to discover the joys of reading for pleasure, as well as a resource for academic research. There is a wealth of fiction and non-fiction to discover, as well as a wide range of magazines, newspapers, comics and online subscriptions to enjoy.

Events and Author Visits

Pupils across all year groups are invited to take part in our hugely popular book clubs. Reading-related activities, competitions and quizzes take place throughout the year to inspire, enthuse and challenge our young readers. In addition, we also host regular visits from renowned children’s authors including Piers Torday, Abi Elphinstone, Katherine Rundell, Emma Carroll, Gill Lewis, Laura James and Robin Stevens.

Pre-Prep Story-time

Our Nursery and Pre-Prep library has been imaginatively stocked by Mrs L and is now a fun space in which the children can enjoy their favourite books from the comfort of vibrant toadstool chairs.

Pupils in the Pre-Prep visit their library on a weekly basis for a special story-time and also attend a number of library events in the Prep School.
