Why Play Tennis?
Our coaching programme caters for pupils of all abilities, from the year-round tournament player, to players with little experience. Everyone is encouraged to play and improve their tennis. The aim of the programme is to develop mental, technical, tactical and practical skills required for the game and to enjoy the challenge of competition, both within a school and outside of a school-friendly competition setting.
Specialist coaching is available six days a week and aims to develop our tennis players in both singles and doubles. We have our own indoor facility and access to nearby courts to enable us to offer a year-round programme.
Private one-to-one coaching sessions with a variety of experts are also available at King's. These sessions are tailored to level and need. At present there are also three group performance sessions and three group 'early morning' training sessions running weekly, at no additional cost.
Love Tennis
As a school, we compete annually in the prestigious Independent Schools Tournament held at Eton College (for both boys and girls) in the last week of the Summer Term. In addition to higher level competitions, we also run fixtures throughout the year against other independent schools and local clubs in the Somerset and Devon area.
School singles and doubles tournaments, inter-house matches, competitions for pupils and parents, as well as OA fixtures also take place at carious times throughout the year.
Pupil Success
We have a number of pupils who play at national and county level. They work with our coaching team each week to develop their skills and prepare them for future competitions.
Former pupils Jordan Clayton and Pearllan Cipriano left King's after Sixth Form to join universities in the USA on Tennis Scholarships. Both players attended King's College Prep before joining King's College.
