Cutting Edge Technology
For a small school, we have an extensive range of equipment in our DT Centre that enable our pupils to manufacture a range of products. They develop of range of modern and traditional skills and techniques under the watchful eyes of our highly experienced and accomplished staff.
As well as being one of the first schools in the South West to acquire a CNC plasma machine, we also have several state-of-the-art machines at our disposal, that sit alongside a wide range of handtools and other pieces of more established and time-honoured equipment.
Best in the Country
The DT Centre at King's may not be the biggest department you have seen, but it has been voted the best in the country by 'The Good Schools Guide'. What excited them and will excite you is the standard and quality of the work that is produced by our pupils. They are actively encouraged to use their imagination and creativity when designing projects, and work with an enormous variety of mediums.
Awards
We have a number of pupils whom have been awarded the prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship. In addition to this, we have had pupils recognised for their outstanding DT work by The Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation, which is the most highly prized award given to pupils who have demonstrated a high standard of craftsmanship in their project work.
