Why Choose King's?

Why King's?

King’s has so much space, not just with its acres of striking grounds, but also in the holistic and spiritual sense, with a richness of time, facilities and opportunities in which our pupils, from nursery to sixth form, can flourish and grow.

The College and Prep School are just a few minutes apart, both situated in picturesque, rural settings on the outskirts of Taunton, each with their own wealth of facilities, resources and specialist staff, giving King’s its distinctive edge. There is literally space to do it all.

After being researched, visited and reviewed by The Good School Guide, both schools appear in this prestigious guide that aims to help families in every aspect of choosing the best education for their children. Please click the links below to read the full reviews.

One Happy Community

At King’s, everyone is part of something bigger. Our close-knit, caring and vibrant community is integrated within a unified house system, where all pupils mix together throughout the school day.

Boarding is part of our DNA, which is why at the senior school, day pupils are welcome to stay late for prep and supper as well as join in with the Sunday activities programme. At King’s we have lots of flexible options to suit each individual family’s needs.

Outdoor Education Programme

Fresh air is in abundance and, with our wide range of facilities and amazing open spaces, outdoor education is part of every pupil’s day at King’s.

In Nursery we have Little Woods, providing a very secure yet adventurous area before moving up to Big Woods, with its slightly wilder environment. At the College, CCF gets pupils enjoying the outdoors as well climbing, cycling, kayaking, Ten Tors and Duke of Edinburgh, with endless opportunities for pupils to stretch themselves out of their comfort zone both in school and further afield.

Wealth of Facilities

With two separate and independent sites for the prep and senior schools, there are no half measures, with 100 percent dedicated facilities for each school. This also has the added benefit of each facility being age appropriate. Two heated swimming pools, sports halls, playing fields, Astro turfs, theatres, forest schools and cookery schools are some of the facilities available to all ages. At the College, there is also a large and dedicated art school, music school, science centre, DT centre, cricket centre, tennis dome and purpose-built library.

A carefully tailored curriculum is delivered by specialist teachers, from nursery through to the Sixth Form.
