Football

Why Play Football?

With fixtures dating back to 1864, King's football has long been part of school life. However, the modern game offers significantly more opportunities on and off the pitch, with the emphasis on being the best you can be and having fun in the process.

Football is a sport option for boys and girls through the Michaelmas and Lent Terms, with dedicated training available alongside fixtures. All school teams are supported by fully qualified FA coaches working to a relevant coaching program for the team and individual.

For the more aspirational player, our Extended Player Programme supports those reaching for the highest goals.

King’s football remains firmly focused on development and outcomes rather than 'results' (scores).

Never Ending Opportunities

King’s football pupils have a pathway to development at all levels and national/regional representative opportunities, and players are actively encouraged to join local clubs at the appropriate level to further develop their game.

Over the past decade, King’s College girls' football has emerged as the leading independent school for girls' football. Success on the pitch is matched by girls fulfilling their footballing aspirations, whether at home or overseas through scholarships to American colleges

Our staff strive to provide playing opportunities alongside development to challenge every player to be the best they can be

Football Leadership is an activity option available from Fourth Form on Monday afternoons. Leaders develop their coaching and leadership skills through work with local primary school players and work towards their Sports Leaders UK Award
