Sport at King’s Pre-Prep

At King’s Pre-Prep, we believe in giving children the freedom to move, play, and develop their physical skills in a fun and engaging way.

Nursery pupils enjoy a dedicated weekly session in the Sports Hall, where they build confidence and coordination through climbing, balancing, and movement-based activities. Using a range of equipment—from bats and balls to tunnels and climbing frames—children develop essential gross motor skills through both guided exercises and free exploration. Outside adventure includes access to their own climbing frame, bikes, trikes, and a timber trail, plus 50 acres of open yet supervised space to run, jump, and explore.

As they grow, Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 receive specialist Games lessons each week, designed to introduce the core skills needed for future sports through exciting multi-skilled activities.

Year 1 and Year 2 also take part in a dedicated PE lesson led by their class teacher, focusing on gymnastics and dance.

Our outdoor pool is also put to good use during the first half of Michaelmas term and through the summer term: Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 take part in structured swimming lessons, helping them to develop confidence in the water from an early age.

There’s always something active on offer beyond the school day, too. Whether it’s multi-sports, fun & fitness, dance, or yoga, children participate in sporting hobbies throughout the year – keeping them enthusiastic and happy.

Because we believe in movement as part of everyday life – by encouraging our youngest pupils to be as brave and strong as they can be, while fostering a lifelong love of sport.
