CENTRE STAGE: DRAMA AT KING’S

Drama is an integral part of the school day at King’s, with opportunities for all pupils to get involved in some way or another.

Our productions are renowned for their professionalism and high production values, drawing on the talents of over 100 pupils in each major show.

Our drama programme features a diverse range of activities throughout the year. Each year, we alternate between a musical production and a straight play as our major first term production. In the second term, our scholars’ play showcases the talents of our top performing arts pupils. And in the summer, our junior play features pupils from the third and fourth forms.

Beyond the main stage productions, our extracurricular offerings are equally impressive.

The King’s Theatre Company meets weekly to develop, direct and stage its own productions. We also have a drama club, speech and drama program, technical theatre club, and a wide variety of dance styles including contemporary, ballet, tap, musical theatre, and urban.

Underpinning all of this activity is our outstanding drama facilities. Our 250-seat provides a professional performance space, while our outdoor amphitheatre is the perfect setting for our junior plays, complete with pre-show picnics and treats.

From the stage to the technical booth, there are countless ways for pupils to get involved in the vibrant drama community at King’s.

Whether you’re looking to hone your acting skills, explore the world of technical theatre, or simply enjoy world-class professional productions, our drama department has something to inspire everyone.
